Project 365 - Day 50 - Tulips again ...

One of the great things about tulips is how long they last.  They opened up nicely the day after I bought them from Sonia.  Now they are starting to droop and are wide open.  What better opportunity to shoot straight into them?

Today, I lit the tulip from above using the kitchen light, and then put a speedlight right under the blossom to light from below as well.  You can see the light on one of the petals on the right hand size.  That spot, although it looks blown out, is just very very bright ... :-)

f/13 on this one and a 4 second shutter to get right down the throat of the flower, to bring the stamen into focus.  A tweak of contrast to bring out more detail in the tip of the stamen and a touch less exposure.  No crop, no saturation adjust.
